Creativity and Ageing UK Festivals
MAY is the month of Creative Festivals for older people across the UK.
Older people (that’s anyone over 50yrs) are celebrating everything that Art and Culture can offer them.
This year the festivals are once again going virtual, bigger and better and more inclusive than ever there is no need to leave the house to join in.
Events are buzzing in their thousands and encompass the whole range of creativity from;
listening to live music, in your lounge with Music in Hospitals and Care in England or joining the Beyond Beltaine Bookclub group in Ireland to the LGBTI Elders social dance club in Scotland or visiting Wales for a wellbeing and creativity event.

England: Age of Creativity Festival
Celebrating a Creative Later Life across England. The Age of Creativity is a network of more than 1,000 professionals who all believe that creativity and culture supports older people to experience better health, wellbeing and quality of life.
The festival is led by Age UK Oxfordshire, with Age UK and the Age of Creativity network members.
Ireland: Beltaine Festival
Beltaine Festival engages people from all over Ireland to foster and inspire creativity among older people and to promote the skills, experiences and exposure that can lead to a rich creative life.
The festival is curated by Age Opportunity.
Scotland’s creative ageing organisation, celebrates our creative lives as we age. Our vision is that all older people can take part in high quality arts and creative activities, whatever their background and circumstances and wherever they live.
Luminate’s founder partners were Creative Scotland, the Baring Foundation and Age Scotland.
The Whitworth Age Friendly Programme has the following online events during the May Festival month.
May 7th 14th and 21st – Handmade craft sessions 2-4pm
