STUDIO NIGHTS: JAKKAI SIRIBUTR ~ DRAW/MAKE, 23 January, 6-8pm – FREE
Join artist Rebecca O’Doherty, in a response to the colourful narrative of Southeast Asian leading contemporary textile artist, Jakkai Siributr’s showstopper, There’s No Place, which explores global, complex issues of ‘home’, ‘belonging’ and ‘identity’, through political and social histories, and personal stories of grief and remembrance.
In what promises to be a dynamic and fun session, you are invited to reflect on what means ‘home’ to you. Create a dialogue through drawing, process work and methodology, working towards a collaborative installation. The aim is to highlight a delicate, fleeting, yet beautiful tension between the message and the aesthetic.
By attaching the narrative to art practice and process you will develop your drawing skills using the materials and mixed media provided, while trying out the demonstrated methods.
Studio Nights are practical art workshops for educators and facilitators. Connect with key exhibitions, discover new perspectives, meet creative and curious colleagues, and share ideas.
This session is FREE and will be held in our Clore Garden Studio.
