Studio Nights

Practical art workshops for teachers, educators and group leaders. Explore arts practice, connect with exhibitions, discover new perspectives and meet others during these informal and insightful sessions.

Charcoal Drawing – Thursday 7th November 6-8pm

Connect to the ‘Barbara Walker: Being Here’ exhibition as source and inspiration as you explore differing ways and techniques with charcoal. With tips and instruction, participants will make tonal drawing with and without lines and produce reverse charcoal drawings with putty.

Make – Thursday 23rd January 6-8pm

In what promises to be a dynamic and fun session, you are invited to reflect on what home, identity and belonging means to you. Connecting to Jakkai Siribtr’s There’s No Place, create a dialogue through drawing, process and methodology as you work towards a collaborative installation. 

Photography – Thursday 27th March 6-8pm

A vibrant display of new art and textiles in our Exchanges exhibition is deserving of your time in the realm of photography. Looking into areas such as exposure control, composition and varying ways to shoot your subjects. Using your own smartphone, and with guided tips with creative thinking from our photographer, use the themes in Exchanges to look, spot and capture beauty in the world.

Printmaking – Thursday 19th June 6-8pm

Join our experienced printmaker for an evening exploring the variety of mark making offered by printmaking. Engraving, relief and monoprinting will be used to create your own series of prints as you connect to the 250th anniversary of the birth of J.M.W Turner, and the Whitworth exhibition Turner: Liber Studiorum
