This Baby Loss Awareness Week we share the names of the 330 babies that were part of the memory wall created as part of the Still Parents: Life After Baby Loss exhibition that was on display last year. We send our love to the families of all these babies and anyone who has been touched by baby loss.
Baby Loss Awareness Week is not only a week to remember the much-loved babies who died too soon but also a week to raise awareness of the thousands of families affected by loss.
1 in 4 people in the UK experience pregnancy or baby loss yet it is still surrounded with silence which in turn can make parents feel very isolated.
Here at the Whitworth we have been running a programme of creative support for bereaved parents since 2019. The Still Parents workshops use art as a way of working through experiences of baby loss. The programme is ongoing and we are continually talking on new participants so if you, or someone you know, has lost a baby in pregnancy or just after birth then you can book you place on the next free workshop here.
You can also buy the Still Parents: Life After Baby Loss book here. A beautiful and honest portrayal of baby loss told by those who have experienced it first hand. This book is filled with artworks made by, and chosen by, the Still Parents participants.
Let’s take time to remember and support each other this Baby Loss Awareness Week (9–15 October 2023).
