We’re delighted to have been awarded ‘Best Digital Activity’ for our PLAY Live programme at the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museums Awards 2021,
PLAY Live was conceived in March 2020 as a response to the Coronavirus pandemic as a way to take the Early Years programme into people’s homes, nurseries and schools.

We know how hard lockdown and the restrictions were for families with young children and particularly those who had new babies. We knew we had a responsibility to keep things going, to find a way to make the gallery more open even when it was closed. At the height of lockdown we had an incredible 550 people attending each session and managed to reach new audiences who wouldn’t usually engage with the gallery.
We can’t thank Kids in Museums enough for acknowledging the importance of our PLAY Live sessions and awarding us this accolade.
We know that things are beginning to look a little more normal with ‘in-person’ sessions returning but we still think there is a place for these online sessions and so, for now, we will be continuing them once a month.
